Team

Shay O'Brien / Founder

Shay has been an entrepreneur from a young age – it’s in his blood. It doesn’t define him as a human being, but it never leaves his mind.

Over the years, he’s co-founded businesses that have seen successful exits, and others that didn’t work out. Often there is more to be learned from failure than from success, and those lessons continue to shape how he approaches new ventures.

What excites him most is the journey: spotting potential, backing people he believes in, and supporting founders when it helps them move forward. While he has other ventures in play, the businesses featured here are the ones he’s most excited about—the partnerships he believes hold the greatest potential for success.

In his spare time, Shay is a dedicated family man with a passion for health, well-being, and happiness. He loves exploring new places with his loved ones and they have travelled extensively and had many enriching adventures together.

Mandi McLauchlan / Managing Director

Mandi joined Bray Capital in 2013. She has overall responsibility for the management of Bray Capital, Dalkey Management and its investee companies. Along with assessing the financial viability of potential new investments, Mandi provides support, where required, for exiting investee companies.

She worked for Flowcrete from 2004-12. Mandi has also worked for Depuy International Ltd, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson, as their Finance Manager and has gained a broad range of financial experience in different types of industries and large multi-national companies.

Mandi is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has been an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (CIMA) since May 2006.

Mandi spends her weekends watching her son play rugby, catching up with friends and family or out walking with her dogs.

Steve Cosgrove / Finance Director

Steve joined the team in July 2022. He is an experienced Finance Director having held a number of senior financial positions for more than 25 years since leaving practice. Those roles have been within a variety of sectors including telecoms, insurance, recruitment, recycling and construction.

Steve has been heavily involved in business acquisitions and sales. His role within Bray Capital Group is to assist with investment appraisal decisions, provide financial assistance to the businesses being supported, along with providing general financial reports and cashflow management.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys the outdoors with his family and dog, watching football and volunteers at the local Scout Group with treasury matters and fundraising.

Jackie O’Brien / EA to Shay O’Brien

Jackie joined Bray Capital in January 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience in operations management across both the private and public sectors.

Her career has included leadership roles such as General Manager of The Alice Cross Centre in Teignmouth, where she oversaw strategic development and community engagement, and Business Manager at The Body Camp, a holistic fitness retreat in Spain known for its premium wellness programmes.

Based in the South Hams, Jackie enjoys a full and active life outside of work. She loves spending quality time with family, exploring the outdoors on long walks and beach days, getting lost in a good book, and finding inspiration through podcasts and live music with friends.
